After a day of Elise's BG not going below 350 and ketones ranging from 0.9 to 1.9, we're going back to using diluted insulin. We talked to the endo on call and she agrees that this is the best course of action.
It seems a little counter-intuitive right now, but we're hoping this will work.
Poor Elise is feeling horrible and keeps telling me, "I no feel good." It is absolutely heartbreaking.

I don't blame you. Bravo for acting quickly. I can't imagine what it would be like to manage this for a small child.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are going with your instinct and switching back. Maybe after things settle down (I know, that may never happen) you can try full strength again.
ReplyDeleteGood luck switching back! I really hope it helps. I know the swings of blood sugar must make them feel awful!Zane will tell me that his tummy hurts. :(
Following our instinct is so important. We often lead with our head and what we perceive as logical all while ignoring that still small voice from God.
ReplyDeleteTyler is also miserable when he is high. He is grumpy, has a tummy ache and a headache....
Please keep us posted!
You are such a wonderful mama!
