Today was Mattias's 2-week appointment. The doc said that he's doing great; height is 50th percentile, and weight is 25. But those aren't the numbers that matter to me.
You see, today was also his follow-up newborn screening. You know, where they poke the baby's heel and test for all sorts of genetic diseases? Since they were already going to make my baby bleed, I asked if I could check his BG.
It's not that I'm worried (yet).
It's not that I think anything is wrong.
I just needed to know.
89. I just pray that it stays there.
No worries...what will be will be. No worrying about it allowed right now! Enjoy your sweet gorgeous, no doubt amazing smelling, baby!
ReplyDelete89...I pray that it stays there too, Joanne.
ReplyDeleteI understand your fear and I hope that you never have to go through another D diagnosis! Speaking from experience I can say that it is a gut wrenching moment and it's hard not to play the "what-ifs" in your head.
BUT,like Meri said...No worries!!! Just enjoy that beautiful baby :)
Yay for a good check up!
ReplyDeleteI am with Meri... no wories allowed!
ReplyDeleteIt's ok, you're totally allowed. When Callen was 1 day old the nurses got me worrying 'cause they kept telling me his glucose level was low. They gave him formula saying it would help bring it up, and it did but barely enough to pass. I actually JUST now remembered that even happened.
ReplyDeletePrayers said. :)

ReplyDeleteI would have asked, since they were poking, too. Afterall, a D mama needs to know certain things.
ReplyDelete89 is a perfect number, but you know, he'd be perfect no matter the number!
Congratulations on your new baby! Mattias is such a lovely name. And here's hoping you'll never have to worry about his sugar ever!
