Let me just start off by saying I've had a perma-grin ever since I woke up Friday morning and saw how much everyone enjoyed the video. When the idea popped into my brain, I thought I'd put it up on my blog, and my fellow D-moms, D-dads and other D-peeps who read my blog might get a few chuckles out of it.
But apparently, it's been shared on facebook (which I'm not on) over 1200 times. And people find it funny, which tickles me to death. Seriously, one of the best things a person can say to me (besides the fact that I'm an awesome wife/mom/substitute-pancreas), is that I make them laugh. So thanks for all the comments, sharing and love!
On Friday we had our endo appointment. I think we have a reason why Elise's numbers have gone coo-coo bananas over the last three or so weeks. In three months she grew over an inch and gained almost three pounds. Holy growth spurt! Things are slowly returning back to "normal-ish".
We did talk about a pump, and I am signed up for an upcoming pump class (not until March - ugh). I'm still debating. How much of it should be the child's choice?
I've talked to Elise about a pump, but I don't think she quite gets it. The only pump she's ever seen is the Omnipod, but I don't think we'll be going that route (unless I see the new version and it is WAY smaller than the current one). She didn't seem all that excited about it anyway, except to say she wants a pink one.
I almost forgot... A1C came back at 7, which is exactly the same as three months ago.
To quote the Talking Heads, "same as it ever was." And I'm okay with that.
Yep, LOVED that video. And I loved seeing it posted all over the place!
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely a BIG growth spurt! Glad her numbers are returning to normalish.
And Woo Hoo for the awesome A1C, despite the growth spurt!
You are one awesome D Mama!
yup. Awesome video!!! And whoohoo great A1C!
ReplyDeleteNow I feel better about Natalie's high numbers the last months as well. She grew the same amount...one inch and 3 pounds!! That's what they kept telling me, but since it is all new for us anyway, I wasn't really sure. We're working towards that A1C...good job!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the video!
ReplyDeleteThe video rocked the house girl.
ReplyDeleteOn the A1C - WOOT!
And...I didn't really give Joe a choice on the pump. I figure at that age it is kind of up to us as the parents to decide. I did let him know all of the pros of a pump and let him pick his color etc.
Good luck with it all Jo!
That vid was the bomb! I keep thinking I should keep reposting it until all my friends and family see it!
ReplyDeletePump....we didn't give Lily a choice on it, but she wasn't even 3. My thoughts for you....what are your reasons for getting a pump? You have an awesome A1C, so it's not for better numbers. The pump doesn't exactly make life easier for you, as it means more testing, more dosing, more adjusting. But it will mean less pokes with needles, easier insulin delivery when she's high or snacking, etc. I'll be perfectly honest with you when I say that I LOVE my pump and would never go back. And as much work as Lily's pump is for me to adjust and tweak all the time, I'd never go back for her either!
Whatever you choose, good luck!
Awesome video! I shared it, and I have seen many share it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome A1C! Perfectomundo!
And waiting till March is NOT awesome. I call it as I see it Joanne.
Holy A1c Batman! That's great! And that's quite a growth spurt! She's getting big!
ReplyDeleteThe video.... Oh my Lord. Jo, I don't often laugh at loud at stuff. And I laughed so hard at this I may or may not have peed a little. I think I'll send it out to everyone I know!!!
You rock, Mama! Love to you all!
Goodluck with the pump. I felt like I wanted to make sure Addison was as ready for it as we were. That is why we did a trial to see what we all thought before committing! I think it is perfectly fine to have your child weigh in on the decision unless of course you have an infant or it is medically necessary to go on the pump and there is no choice!
ReplyDeleteYour vid btw is posted on six until me today! Nice! Kerri didn't know who made it so I hope you don't mind that I pointed her in your direction!
It will only be a 'fabulous idea to get the pump' if it is the right thing for YOUR family.
ReplyDeleteYour A1C reflects an awesome care regimen and commitment to daily labor.
I just know you will 'know' when, or even if, it is the right change to make.
We will be in the same boat. I'm not gonna rush or mess with anything that's working at the time.
I just don't need an extra kick in the balls, ya know?! ;)
That video was funny!
ReplyDeleteGreat job on the A1C... same is good :)
I saw on a comment that you were signed up for a pump class. I look at it this way... if you/Elise don't like it... you can go back to MDI just as quickly as you went off. I think you will like it though. Good luck and I thought they did make the pod smaller??
Awesome video -- so much fun seeing it spread all over the place! It was a HOOT!!!!
ReplyDeleteRE: The Pump ... I didn't give Sugar an option. I had a short window of time before Tink was born and knew I would need the flexibility with a diabetic 3 year old, 16 month old, and a newborn. I know you'll make the right choice for your family!
You already know the reasons we love Animas -- if you have any questions, just ask ;)
Hi, saw your comment about Omnipod, which I use. Also say that your daughter wanted pink. I use tattoos; they stick very well. There is also a demo pod you can order; it sticks to you, but there's no insertion so it isn't a functional pump, but you can see how/where you might place it. I don't know how old your daughter is (3 years?), but my daughter is three and I know the pump would work fine on her thigh and lower back. These places work fine for me, but I recommend a pillow top bed to provide some cushion when sleeping. Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I thought the video was awesome. We saw it on a fb post for a T-1 Parents group we belong too. Our 7 year old daughter was dx on 11-1-10 and she is getting the Animas Ping pink of course.
